Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine
In addition to being a board-certified family physician, Dr. Swanson is an IBCLC (international board certified lactation consultant). She has expertise in the anatomy, physiology, and function of lactation for both the lactating parent and the baby. Dr. Swanson has some of the most comprehensive, evidence-based, and progressive lactation education available today. She is excited to support your on your feeding journey.
Breastfeeding and lactation care services are provided through Fourth Trimester Doc, who currently contracts with The Lactation Network (TLN) for insurance coverage. Please continue to Fourth Trimester Doc for more information and scheduling.
Fourth Trimester Physician Care
Dr. Swanson provides in-home physician level care for newborns and the birthing parent for the first 2-3 months after birth. You will have direct access to Dr. Swanson via text/phone during this vulnerable time. She can provide all medical care and lactation support for you and your newborn in the comfort of your home.
Packages can be purchased through Fourth Trimester Doc and include:
5 in-home visits for mother/birther and newborn
unlimited support between visits
1 postpartum planning session
1 phone call with partner/support person for partner postpartum planning
option to have the last visit be the 2 month well-child check and have vaccinations administered in the home
This package includes all lactation, mental health support, along with regular well-child checks. This means you can usually avoid going to a clinic and receive all your postpartum care in the comfort of your home. If you choose to see your primary care doctors during this time, Dr. Swanson can work collaboratively with them to make a comprehensive plan for you and your baby.
